If you need help with setting up Opencart from the start, follow this guide step-by-step.
Otherwise you can use the quick-links below, for a guide on certain parts.
1. Connect your Opencart with Webshipper
Start by creating a Webshipper account on Webshipper.com or Webshipper.dk
When logging in for the first time, you will be met with the following 4 steps:
Click on “Create your first order system” to add your Opencart to Webshipper.
Otherwise go to “Settings” => “Add order system”.
Choose “Opencart” in the “Order system type” dropdown, followed by an URL for your webshop.
Fill out the informations in “Sender address”. This is the address, from where you’re shipping orders.
When everything is done and correctly filled, press “Create order system”.
2. Install the plugin
To install the plugin, go to “Settings” => “Order systems” => “mywebshopname.com”.
Copy the “API-token” and click on “Download plugin”.
Extract the content of the zip-file. There you will find two versions of the mod. Pick the one that will work with your version of OpenCart.
Now we will need to install vqmod, its required for the webshipper plugin to work. Find the “vqmod” zip and extract it.
The two folders you will need in the following steps are the “upload” and the “vqmod” folder.
*** NOTE: THE FLOWING MAY TEMPORALLY DISABLE YOUR SITE! BACK UP YOUR FILES ***
Open up your preferred FTP client and connect to the server where OpenCart is located.
Transfer the vqmod folder to the root of your OpenCart installation. It should now look similar to this:
Open a browser and go to “your-website”/vqmod/install/ and you shoud see:
“VQMOD IS SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED”
“VQMOD ALREADY INSTALLED!”
if not, check that vqmod is installed in the correct folder.
Go to the front page and check if you can still access your site. If you get read/write errors see the following steps.
Open the FTP client and right click the vqmod folder and go to:
proprieties => permissions => change the numerical permission number to 775
Repeat this for the “vqcache” folder in the vqmod folder
If did not work, try 777 permissions for the “vqmod” and “vqcache”
The vqmod configuration is now done. Now for the webshipper plugin.
Simply upload the content from “upload” folder mentioned before to the opencart root. This will not overwrite any files.
Now open your opencart admin panel => navigate to modules => find the “Webshipper – Automated shipping” module =>
click the green Install button.
Go to Shipping and repeat the previous step.
When the plugin is installed, click the blue edit and insert the API-token we copied earlier, in the Webshipper options.
3. Add a shipper
Next we need to create your shipping methods.
Go back to “Get started” and click on “Create your first carrier now”.
Here you will have the opportunity to choose amongst our current integrations.
When clicking “Create now”, you will be asked to fill out the information we need from your shipper.
For the purpose of this guide, I’ve chosen YourGLS as an example.
The needed information differ from shipper to shipper.
Great! Now we’re almost there.
All we have left to do is add our shipping rates.
4. Add a shipping rate
Click on “Create your first shipping rate”.
Depending on your chosen shipper, “Type” and “Carrier service” will vary.
If you wish to allow your customers to choose a pickup point themselves, select the following:
- “GLS Pakkeshop” for GLS
- “Enable drop points” for PostDK
- “Pickup point” for Bring
- “Droppoints” for UPS
Fill out the remaining informations, aswell as the destination countries that you wish to support.
To allow free shipping on orders over “X” amount. Go to “Detailed settings” and select “Free above”.
Amazing. Now you’re up and running and ready to ship!
